GPS Accuracy

Postby RantRex » Fri May 15, 2009 9:06 pm

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is an off-the-shelf GPS unit that can log GPS locations faster than 1Hz. 10+ Hz would be preferable.

Thanks

What are you actually wanting to log the data for ?
If you are needing a standalone system like the ones they use for the footy etc they are stupidly expensive however if you just want something for generic stuff there is a few around that you can connect a laptop or PDA to to get 5hz out of I dont know about any doing higher speeds maybe some crazy industrial stuff or something but I would be thinking they are expensive.

Hope that helps a bit

Cheers

yeah they track exactly where the players are at any time .. I am not sure exactly what types etc they are but they were using them to give stats to the viewers now they use them to monitor players to make sure they dont explode haha

You can read a report on it all here http://www.fitsense.com.au/downloads/GPS%20Research%20Report%20-%202005.pdf

ok now to find some pictures of the device used. Would be good to see where it was placed on the body to track heart rate as well.
