Building a new house? Want to be connected? Prior planning before building the house can save you alot of time and money.
You can get an electrical contrator to draw you up an electrical plan for your house before its built. You should make sure this includes cat5e/cat6 cabling for Data, telephone lines into appropriate areas, and coaxial for digital television into your tv rooms (include kitchen if you want tv in the kitchen)

this is an example of an electrical plan.

Things to consider in your plan:
1. Be sure to use cat5e or cat6 for data, this will ensure future proofing allowing 1000Mbps transfer speeds.
2. ensure good quality coaxial cable is used for television antenna, also be sure to install a antenna that is tuned correctly for digital reception. This will ensure excellent quality all year round.
3. Plan your LAN properly. Know where you will have your storage devices, and how you will serve your data. for example, have your main computer in the study store all your movies, then use Microsoft media center at your Television to serve all your movies, utilising HDMI and stereo. (There are many options you can use here)
4. If you decide to use a media center pc at your tv, make sure it is quiet, fan noise can become annoying during movie viewing.

thats all i have for now, if you want to submit a floor plan of your house im sure we can come up with a solution for you. If your lucky i can probably also do up a network diagram for you!

Cheers
