Guys, I was after all the latest on the PSP. I have one but have never modded it, cracked it or whatever else you can do.
If there is anyone who knows all the in's and out's could you please post.

What type of psp do you have? Fat (psp-1000 series) or slim (psp-2000 series) or the new one (psp-3000)??

If u got a fat, its easy. If u got a slim, u will need a fat battery, if u got a 3000 ur outta luck - for now anyway.

You can load custom firmware onto a psp by using a modded battery, or a fat battery in 'pandora' mode. otherwise known as a pandora battery. It basically forces ur psp to load up from the mem card slot instead of its built in eeprom.

This takes us to the next part - 'magic memory stick'. To make one is quite difficult and time consuming. cannot be asked explaining it right now (got a reco'd shoulder and its hard enuf to type as it is). It will basically allow ur psp to boot when used with a pandora battery, allowing u to flash the psp's eeprom with new firmware from the 'magic memory stick'.

Theres heaps of info out there if u google it. i havent played with mine for 6 months, but the last firmware i was flashing was 5.00 m33-3 (the m33 is the custom title, the -3 is the revision). Also google 'dark alex'. He writes the firmware (or mods sony's version).

I highly recommend flashing ur psp. You can do so much more (homebrew/backup games etc). If you cant get access to pandora battery or mem card i may be able to help out...

hope that clears a few things up...

Hi Rusty,

Benno is mostly right but you don't need the Pandora these days.
The process is quite easy as it explains here in the n00bs guide http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f133/no ... a-t242363/

I mostly use my PSP for playing games (well my kids do) but I've used it for basic wardriving, streaming movies from my media box to where ever I am in the house, youtube videos and even a fancy usb device.

Regards
