Dual output LNB for Foxtel IQ

Postby Blacky » Tue Jun 30, 2009 7:12 pm

Ok i got an ACER dual output LNB. The problem im having is that the box is constantly failing when i try to record a program. Works fine if i stay on the channel im recording but if i change from it, it fails.

Does the LNB need a certain polarization to pick up the other feed for recording?
and yes i have two runs of coaxial coming from the LNB to the box.

When im in setup -> system settings -> signal test Only one side is "locked" if i change the coaxial around the other becomes locked.

Not exactly sure how the LNB is ment to work. All i can think is that the polarization of the LNB at the moment wont receive a vertical and horizontal signal.

Hope this makes sense to someone! Help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Well Im an Ex Foxtel Sat tech.

With IQ2, 2 of the 4 tuners lock one leg onto horizontal polarization and one leg onto vertical. The recording is failing due to this, do channels like ACC like 182? when your not recording

IIRC is your LNB Straight as in not on any angle (over there), basically the LNB connectors facing straight down? Then it should work, with this. If not you need someone looking at the TV maybe on the phone to you, and you adjust the LNB to the right (if your facing the dish straight on) and this doesnt lock a channel.

Id be looking at the F connectors making sure the outer sheilding isnt touching the centre core, make sure the connectors are right etc.

And you only have 1 IQ2 box in the house?

Before playing with the LNB tell me if the channel is working, and check the cables, and connectors. Acutally try updating you box (this is for both IQ1 and IQ2)

Unplug the box from power, and plug it back in, wait for the play/record and outer circle to flash once, when it flashes again do the following

Hit the Power Button
Push the Up Button
Push the Down Button
Push the Power button again

This should trigger it to go into update mode. Leave it update and see if its working.

Yea only 1 x IQ2 box and the ACC (channel 182) works fine!
The LNB is pointing straight down when looking at the dish from font on....
I did do the connectors at night whilst on the roof...so they could be dodgy!!!

will try the update now!

ok, the above update does work.....just wait for the light to go on the second time and press the button on the front of the box....not the remote! (haha)

Didn't fix my problem so next thing will be to try and adjust the LNB. Stilla little confused as to weather each channel must be in lock to be able to record.

Oh Oh yeah. I forgot about this iv done it before too. Your 2 cables are the plugged into the 2 legs at the end of the box or the 2 inputs on the scart connector sides towards the HDMI, they are meant to be plugged into those 2 closest to that connector.

From the LNB there are 2 legs. There needs to be 2 cable runs from the Satellite to the box. (Ie 2 cables)

The IQ2 box will have 4 Input Feeds on the back, I cannot remember exactly but the 2 feeds from the dish need to be screwed into the 2 Input feeds closest to HDMI output.

yea understand the 2 coaxial runs, which i have. However there are only two f-type inputs on the back of the IQ2 box.

ok my bad! It has to be the connectors as one line of coaxial works in both inputs the other doesnt work in either! Will check connections tomorrow (During daylight hours)
