Dishpointer app for Iphone

Postby Blacky » Thu Oct 21, 2010 11:18 pm

So this website has an app for your Iphone that allows you to hold your Iphone in the air and it will show you were in the sky certain satellites sit. It uses the camera and GPS/Compass to track them in the sky. The purpose for this app is to aid in pointing your sat dish.

My question is how accurate is it? I'm thinking it should be pretty good, but the video does show a bit of lag when panning the sky.

Check it out, the video is on the right side.

is it an app available in the app store? or is it a third party app?
if its from the app store, it should work fairly well, as they do allot of testing before allowing an app to be sold in the store.
if you download it from cydia, then it may not work so well.

The dishpointer site has a link to the app store. But when you click on it, it goes directly to the apple website and nothing about the app specifically.

I have seen the app or a similar one on a friends iphone through the store going for $24.99.
Very expensive app if you ask me.

managed to get the app on my iphone. Couple this app with the other dishpointer app and you pretty much can't go wrong! Worth every penny!

That dishpointer application looks pretty flippin' amazing. I was pretty skeptical when I opened up this thread, but I suppose if you're paying $20 something odd dollars, it aught to be good. Is there any way you can perhaps write a review for us, Blacky? Perhaps you can post your OWN video of the application in action. Anyway, thanks for letting us know what you think. It looks very cool!
